| | The National Hook-Up of Black Women, Inc. (NHBW, Inc.) is a national, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization formally established in 1973. Our national agenda dedicates itself to improving the lives of women and their families through support of the arts, culture, health and human service initiatives. Our goal is to affect the community at its source. Attained achievement comes through the empowerment of local chapters who best define the needs of their communities and who can, as the need dictates, institute programs effectively at the grass roots level that are within the scope of NHBW's national agenda.
|
| Effective leadership of the organization requires a talented management team with vision and the ability to resource cohesively the needs and concerns relayed to it by the local chapters, while equally representing the promotion of the organization at large. The elected Executive Committee of NHBW, Inc. undertakes this role.
NHBW, Inc.'s Standing Committees undergirt the role of the Executive Committee. They are a deliberative body established to aid the Executive Committee, thus the organization, in accomplishing its mission through jurisdiction over critical functional areas of the organization. | |

 | Organizational accomplishments, on both local and national levels, include voter registration drives, health fairs, legislative forums, AIDS awareness workshops, support to domestic violence shelters, vouchers for the homeless, youth programs, scholarship awards, and collaborative interventions with local and national civic and community groups and organizations whose missions tie in with NHBW's national agenda. |
