The NHBW Tallahassee Chapter was founded in 1978 under the directions of Dr. Edith Fresh who served as the first President.  The charter members were Gayle Andrews, Diane Avery Brown, Shirley Gooding-Butler, Dejoyce McCoy, Zellene Smith, and Dr. Patty Ball Thomas.  These concerned women saw a need for an active and collective voice on women’s issues in the Tallahassee community.  The state purpose was to represent those individuals, organizations, and institutions whose goals were to foster and promote the economic, educational, and social development of women, communities, and to maintain a communication among them.

The Tallahassee Chapter remains committed to improving the quality of life in our community and lift up families.  “We Do It Better - - When We Do It Together!”
